City Council Approves Resolution For Enterprise Zone

In their meeting Tuesday night, the Greenville City Council unanimously approved a resolution for an enterprise zone. The city is applying for a new enterprise zone, as the current one will expire December 31. Mayor Alan Gaffner and City Manager Dave Willey noted that numerous enterprise zones throughout the state will expire this year and only 96 are allowed in Illinois. Willey said it’s unknown how many cities will apply for one, but the application process is expected to be competitive.

The enterprise zone is similar to the existing one, with some slight differences, adding some land near Exit 41 on I-70 along Rt. 127.
