Greenville Medical Marijuana License Application One Of Many In Metro East

Mike Donnewald addresses the audience at a previous City Council meeting regarding the proposed medical marijuana cultivation facility.

There’s a lot of interest in opening medical marijuana businesses in the Metro East area. According to figures released by the state, nine groups have applied to open marijuana cultivation centers and eleven groups have applied to open dispensaries.

State law allows one cultivation center and two dispensaries in Illinois State Police District 11, which includes St. Clair, Madison, Bond, Clinton, and Monroe Counties.

One application for a cultivation facility was filed by Scott Hawkins and Mike Donnewald, of RFP, LLC. If approved, their cultivation facility would be located in the Wolf Industrial Park in Greenville.

The state hopes to award the first licenses by the end of the year and have those businesses in operation sometime next year.
