Three Sent To Hospital After Accident At 127 & 140

Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident on Rt. 140 at Rt. 127 Wednesday just before 5:00 p.m. According to Bond County Sheriff’s Deputies, 50 year old Holly Thiems of Sorento was westbound on Rt. 140 when a vehicle driven by 38 year old Rick Reeves of Greenville turned off of Rt. 127 in front of her. Thiems’ vehicle struck Reeves’ vehicle.

According to the accident report, Reeves told deputies he was turning onto 127 and did not see Thiems’ vehicle prior to turning. A passenger in Reeves’ vehicle told deputies he did not come to a complete stop at the intersection and a witness stated that Reeves turned onto Rt. 140 in front of Thiems’ vehicle. Reeves was issued a citation for alleged failure to yield at an intersection.

Reeves and two of his passengers, 60 year old Sheila Sims and 39 year old Chandra Torres, were taken to Greenville Regional Hospital by Pocahontas Old Ripley Fire and EMS. Reeves and Sims were treated and released. Torres was transferred to another facility.

Greenville Fire Protection District personnel were en route back to the fire station following another call when they witnessed the accident and assisted at the scene.
