Bond County Humane Society Receives $75,000 Grant

The Bond County Humane Society recently received notice from State Representative John Cavaletto’s office that the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have approved a $75,000 capital grant for building construction.

The request for the grant was included in a House Bill originally submitted in 2011 by State Representative Ron Stephens, prior to his retirement.

Grant funds will be used to cover costs associated with constructing an additional building adjacent to the Humane Society’s dog shelter on South Elm Street in Greenville. The Humane Society plans to house their cat shelter, adoption center, and business office in the new building.

Officials anticipate that additional funding will be required to complete the project.

The Bond County Humane Society will seek bids once plans for the new building have been finalized.
