Cavaletto, Shimkus, Davis Retain Seats

John Cavaletto, the Republican incumbent in the 107th Representative District for the Illinois General Assembly, was reelected to another term Tuesday. Voters in Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion, and Effingham Counties cast 23,125 votes for Cavaletto. His challenger, Democrat Josh Berger received 9,924 votes.

In the two US Congressional districts that dissect Bond County, both incumbent Republicans were the winners. John Shimkus defeated Eric Thorsland in the 15th Congressional District with approximately 75% of the vote.

Republican Rodney Davis defeated Democrat challenger Ann Callis with approximately 60% of the vote.

Absentee and early votes will change the final numbers, but both Shimkus and Davis have retained their Congressional seats.
