In what may be the first direct connection between Greenville and the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, Greenville High School officials have announced that the GHS Marching Comets will not perform in the St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday.
“After the recent events in the ST. Louis area, we’ve been in contact with several other schools,” Greenville High School Principal Wendy Porter told WGEL. “We, along with Collinsville, Belleville East, Alton, and O’Fallon have all decided that we are not going to attend the Thanksgiving parade. We just felt that at this time it was the best decision for our students.
“We’d rather go, but right now it just is probably not the good thing to do.”
Parade organizers have decided to postpone this year’s Thanksgiving Parade in St. Louis.
