GES Students Receive New Shoes

Every student at Greenville Elementary School received a free pair of new shoes this week.

“Back in September, I met with Dave and Erin Bradshaw, who are new to the community” GES Principal Eric Swingler told WGEL. “Dave and Erin are ministers of The Bridge, which is a new church that holds services at the Globe Theatre. Prior to their move, they were approached by a group of national organizations wishing to remain anonymous, giving them permission to provide a new, free pair of name brand shoes to all kindergarten through fifth grade students and all staff members here at GES.

“We qualified for this program based on specific criteria. Back in mid-September, several volunteers came to the school and measured each student and staff member.”

The shoes were distributed Monday at a celebration that consisted of inflatable bounce houses and snow cones for students as they picked up their new shoes Monday.

Each student at Greenville Elementary School wrote a thank you note for their shoes and the school staff treated the Bradshaws and volunteers to a complimentary lunch.
