The third teen involved in the fatal traffic accident Wednesday afternoon near Raymond passed away over the weekend.
According to the Illinois State Police, at 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday a car was northbound on Illinois Rt. 48, about half a mile northeast of Raymond, when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver over corrected and crossed into the southbound lane in front of another vehicle. The southbound vehicle hit the car on the passenger side.
The two passengers killed in the accident were 16 year old Samantha DeLeslie and 17 year old Jeffrey Masters, both of Harvel. The driver, 17 year old Dana Maria Janssen, of Harvel, was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and passed away from her injuries Saturday at 5:24 p.m.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
