Monday night, the Mulberry Grove Board of Education met at 6:45 p.m., for a tentative tax levy hearing. The board approved a 5% increase in the tax levy. If the 5% increase is realized, it will bring in approximately $35,000.00 more for the district. The increase in the tax rate will be about $.12. Superintendent Brad Turner said with the approval of the 5% increase, a truth in taxation hearing will be scheduled.
In the treasurer’s report during the regular meeting, Turner said the district received approximately 95% of the tax money and general state aid payments are still coming in on time. No categorical state aid for transportation has been received and the district is waiting for special education funds.
The board approved a three-year bus lease agreement with Central States Bus Sales for five buses.
Following an executive session, the board hired Karen Clark to be transportation director for the remainder of this school year.
