Sheriff’s Department Warns Of Possible Home Repair Fraud

According to information from the Bond County Sheriff’s Department, they recently received several reports in regard to an apparent home repair fraud.

Homeowners are being approached by persons offering to oil and chip their driveway. The contractor explains they have been working in the area on other jobs and they have extra material left over. They will offer to oil and chip your driveway at a discounted rate, rather than waste the left over material. When the job is complete, you may be told the cost is more than what was agreed upon and after they are gone, you may find the quality of work is less than that of a reputable contractor.

Use caution with anyone approaching you to perform work whom you have not contacted. If you are approached with similar circumstances or believe someone is misrepresenting themselves, contact the Sheriff’s Department at 664-2151.
