Two teenagers were killed and one is in serious condition following a traffic accident in Montgomery County. Illinois State Police, area ambulance personnel, and an ARCH helicopter responded to the scene of the crash Wednesday, at 3:15 p.m.
According to the Illinois State Police, a car was northbound on Illinois Rt. 48, about half a mile northeast of Raymond, when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver over corrected and crossed into the southbound lane in front of another vehicle. The southbound vehicle hit the car on the passenger side.
Montgomery County Coroner Rick Broaddus pronounced the front seat passenger dead at the scene. Area ambulance took the back seat passenger to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver was ARCHed from the scene to a local hospital in serious condition. The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Names of the victims have not been released and the accident remains under investigation.
