UPDATED: Armed Robbery at True Value Hardware in Greenville

Greenville Police are investigating an armed robbery at True Value Hardware on Harris Avenue right after closing time at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

According to Greenville Police Chief Lou Lorton, an employee was leaving True Value from the west door on the north side of the building when the employee saw a white male in a stocking cap. As the employee exited a second male wearing a mask and coveralls was hiding behind the door. The second male displayed a dark handgun and ordered the employee to return into the business and lead them to a safe. The suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was not hurt during the robbery.

Lorton told WGEL that Greenville police are currently reviewing images from cameras in the area and encourages anyone with information to call the Greenville police at 664-2131. Lorton also said True Value has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in this armed robbery.

The first suspect was described as a white male with a husky build, shorter and possibly in his 20s with dirty blonde hair.

The second suspect, who displayed the gun, is of unknown ethnicity since his face was covered. He’s medium build about 5′ 10″ – 6-feet tall, wearing brown coveralls.

Again anyone with information is asked to call the Greenville police at 664-2131.
