Circuit Clerk Warns Of Scam Impacting Illinois Residents

Bond County Circuit Clerk Rex Catron is warning residents of a scam impacting parts of Illinois. The fraudulent scam involves an individual telephoning citizens and advising them that they have missed scheduled jury duty and that a judge has issued an arrest warrant. The subject reportedly uses false last names that are prominent and well-known in the area he’s calling. The caller says they have an office in the county courthouse. He further informs potential victims that he can meet them in the parking lot and will accept a cash payment in lieu of arrest.

A reminder, you should never give personal or financial information over the phone. If you believe you are the intended victim of any kind of a scam, contact your local law enforcement agency.
