Strieker Hired As Litchfield Superintendent

Last Monday Bond County Unit 2 School Superintendent Jeff Strieker announced that he was leaving his post in Bond County and had accepted a new position as superintendent of another school district in Illinois, where he had been offered a multi-year contract.

WGEL spoke with Litchfield Community School District #12 Superintendent John Mullett who confirmed that at their meeting Thursday night, the Litchfield District’s school board voted to hire Strieker as their new superintendent as of July 1, 2015. Mullett will retire at the end of June.

We also spoke with Unit 2 High School Principal Wendy Porter who said Strieker has made an impact during his 5 years in the Unit 2 School System.

“Mr. Strieker has been a leader and a proponent for both students and staff during the time that he’s been here in Bond County,” Porter said. “I know he could be seen at many events, from high school sports to elementary music concerts and many things in between. I think his passion for providing the best for the district was pretty obvious and I also think he’s earned the respect of people that work here and people who send their students here. I think evidence of that was provided Monday night [December 15] with all of the people who came out to support him. He has definitely made an impact on many in our community.”

Strieker has been Superintendent of Bond County Unit 2 Schools since 2009 and previously served as Assistant Superintendent of the District.
