Unit 2 Board Agenda Includes Big Tax Levy Increase & Superintendent’s Contract

The Bond County Unit 2 School Board will meet in regular session Monday night at 7:00 p.m. and the agenda includes two big items.

First is the consideration of a large tax levy increase. At a previous special meeting the board introduced the possibility of a 12.25% increase to the levy, bringing the total levied amount to $7,979,223. The board will hold a public hearing on the tax levy prior to the regular meeting in the Greenville Junior High School Cafeteria.

After the public hearing, the regular meeting will start with an executive session. Items listed on the agenda after the executive session include the superintendent’s contract and the possible formation of a superintendent search committee. Current Unit 2 Superintendent Jeff Strieker has a one-year contract for the 2014-2015 school year. Strieker has served as Unit 2 Superintendent since 2009. Both the superintendent’s contract and the search committee are items on the agenda that could be voted upon Monday night.

An additional item on the agenda is the district’s financial support of athletics.
