City Council Approves Bid To Demolish House On East Winter

The Greenville City Council met Tuesday night at City Hall.
The council voted 5-0 to approve a bid to demolish the home at 428 East Winter in Greenville. City Manager Dave Willey said that the property has been in disarray for a long time and that the city has been in court multiple times trying to compel the owner to bring the property up to city standards. The judge told the city to get bids to demolish the home and if the property was not improved, a demolish order would likely be issued, according to Willey.

Mayor Alan Gaffner said the city has allowed multiple time extensions to the property owner before taking the step to look at demolition. Currently no one is living in the home according to Gaffner. Willey said now if the city goes back to court and a demolition order is issued the city is prepared.
