Illinois State Police Seize 155 Pounds Cannabis


An Illinois State Police trooper patrolling I-70 east of Highland discovered 155 pounds of cannabis during a routine traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Just after 4:00 p.m. Monday, an ISP trooper initiated a traffic stop on a black 2014 Chrysler for improper lane usage. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle reportedly appeared to be extremely nervous and unsure of her exact destination. The driver granted verbal consent to a search of the interior of the vehicle. Two large duffel bags and a plastic trash bag were located. Inside one of the two zippered duffel bags were wrapped packages containing approximately 155 pounds of cannabis.

The driver, Isiadra Jasso, 41, of El Paso, TX, was charged with alleged possession of cannabis, a Class 1 Felony; alleged Cannabis Trafficking, a Class X Felony; and was cited for alleged improper lane usage. Jasso was transported to the Madison County jail where she was incarcerated on a $200,000 bond.
