The State Fair Queen Pageant begins this week at the Crown Plaza in Springfield. Miss Bond County Fair Kelli Mollett of Greenville will represent Bond County in the competition. County pageant coordinator Brooke Earnest told WGEL about Kelli’s busy schedule once she arrives in Springfield.
“Thursday she’ll have her official dress and swimsuit portraits taken and start learning the production number they will do on Sunday evening for the finals and the banquet,” Earnest said. “Friday morning she’ll start with interviews. Saturday she will actually be competing in her swimsuit, evening gown, and business suit and give her speech. Sunday will be a brunch with a farewell to the current state queen, which is Summer Robbins from Montgomery County. Sunday at 4:00, the final banquet begins where the contestants will perform a production number. They’ll announce the 15 finalists and start the process all over again.”
Earnest also told us Kelli has been working very hard in preparation for the state competition.
“We’ve gone over lots of interview questions. We’ve been emailing back and forth, going over those. We’ve been working on changing her speech up a little bit and getting it prepared and memorizing it, getting ready for state.”
Bond County’s first ever Junior Miss, Shelbi McCray, won’t compete this week in Springfield; however she will be there with Kelli, showing her support.
Best wishes and good luck to Kelli Mollett!
