Local Students Nominated To Military Academies

Congressman John Shimkus recently held a reception for his nominees to the military academies. Local nominees attending were, left to right: Tyler Riechmann of Okawville, Shimkus, Ben Foppe of Jamestown, and Grace Chiarolanza of Aviston.

Congressman John Shimkus has announced his 14 nominations to the military service academies. The Congressman nominates, and then the academies themselves make the final determination whether a nominee receives an appointment to attend that academy.

The four military academies that require Congressional nominations are the United States Military Academy at West Point; United States Air Force Academy in Colorado; the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis; and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York.
