Unit 2 School Board To Secure Bids On Resurfacing Dewey Street

In their meeting this week the Unit 2 School Board agreed to secure bids on the resurfacing of Dewey Street by the elementary school. Facilities Manager Mike Wilhite told the board he expected the project to cost around $200,000. Wilhite also presented an in-house construction project including installation of security double doors in both the Greenville Elementary building and the Pocahontas Elementary building and the installation of security film on windows. The film would be paid for with a state security grant totaling $49,800.

The board voted to hire Andrew Buhr as Boys Track Coach for this year and hired Kristy Carriker as a Special Education Aide at the Pocahontas Center.

The Financial report for the district reflected receipts of $1,258,000 in December. Of that figure, $544,724 was General State Aid payments and $275,426 was from county real estate taxes. Superintendent Jeff Strieker shared with the board that the district revenue for the first half of the year was well over expenditures.
