County Board Hears Complaints About Animal Control

The Bond County Board met in regular session this week and heard from Rachel Hundsdorfer of the Bond County Humane Society. Hundsdorfer expressed concerns over the lack of a county animal control administrator and brought up several issues she said she’d been made aware of. Those issues included not scanning dogs captured throughout the county for microchips, a lack of communication between county departments, and a property on Campground Trail that had numerous dogs running at large. Board Chairman Howard Elmore said the board would look into the claims and be in touch with the Humane Society.

The board also heard a report from Snedeker [ Sned-Uh-Kur ] Risk Management, the firm who handles the county’s employee insurance. Snedeker representatives informed the board that their contract for the year will come in under the original amount proposed to the tune of an estimated $100,000 – $140,000.
