Keyesport Home A Total Loss In Early Morning Fire

Keyesport Firefighters responded Wednesday morning at 3:01 to a report of a house fire on First Avenue in Keyesport. According to Fire Chief Jim Golder, the house had been burning for quite some time before firefighters were called and most of the home was already on the ground when they arrived on the scene.

The home was un-occupied and used mostly just on weekends as it was not the owner’s permanent residence. The home is a total loss and the cause of the fire is currently undetermined. Golder said the gas to the home was turned off but electricity was connected.

Mulberry Grove and Wheatfield Firefighters provided mutual aid. There were no injuries and firefighters were on the scene about 2 hours and 45 minutes.
