Local Libraries Receive State Grants

Illinois Secretary of State Jessie White has announced that more than $15 million will be distributed to public libraries statewide.

The money comes from the Illinois Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants Program. The grant is designed to help maintain services such as free Internet access, after school and summer programs for kids, and special events for seniors.
Per Capita grants were awarded to libraries in Greenville, Highland, Carlyle, and Vandalia.

The Greenville Public Library was awarded $8,750. Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library in Highland received $12,398.75. The Case-Halstead Public Library in Carlyle was granted $4,101.25. The Evans Public Library District in Vandalia received $14,351.25.
