An active weather pattern will set up over Missouri and Illinois Monday and Tuesday. First, a warm front will move from south to north across the area Monday night, bringing the area rain and thunderstorms. Most of the precipitation is expected along and north of I-70 Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
A cold front will move into Missouri on Tuesday afternoon. Warm and moist air ahead of the cold front will likely produce thunderstorms, and significant wind shear in the atmosphere will make severe thunderstorms possible.
The National Weather Service says locally damaging winds, large hail, and even a few tornadoes will be possible Tuesday afternoon and evening.
