Arbor Day Foundation Names Greenville Tree City USA

The Arbor Day Foundation named Greenville a 2014 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Greenville qualified for the recognition by meeting the four requirements of a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2.00 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. Benefits enjoyed by Tree City USA communities include cleaner air, improved storm water management, energy savings, increased property values, and commercial activity.
