The eastbound lane of Rt. 40 west of Greenville was closed for a brief period Monday afternoon following an accident involving an anhydrous tank.
Bond County Deputies say a truck was pulling two anhydrous tanks when the pin broke on the rear tank just before 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. The pin broke at the axle, causing the tank to swerve and overturn when it hit loose gravel. The tank was empty and was later able to be turned over by a tractor and hauled from the scene.
There was no chemical spill, the tank did not sustain any damage, and no one was injured.
