Home School Students May Participate In Unit 2 Extracurriculars

The Bond County Unit 2 Policy & Curriculum Committee met this week and drafted a proposal regarding home school students participating in extracurricular activities in the Unit 2 School District.

The proposal would allow home schooled students to be involved in Unit 2 extracurriculars such as art, sports, and clubs provided certain requirements are met. Those include a written request to participate; meeting academic eligibility requirements set forth by the Illinois High School Association and Illinois Elementary School Association; and registration as home school students with the Regional Office of Education; among others.

The full Unit 2 School Board is likely to review the topic at their meeting Monday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Greenville High School Library.
