Three-Vehicle Crash In Montgomery County


Illinois State Police in Litchfield are investigating a three-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning in Montgomery County.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. a Nissan driven by a Tennessee man struck a Mazda driven by a man from Wisconsin. Following the initial crash, a third vehicle, a Toyota, driven by a Texas man, struck the Nissan. Two cars came to rest in the roadway and one stopped in the median.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. A passenger in the Toyota was transported to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Part of I-55 was closed for about an hour to remove the vehicles and clear debris from the roadway. The driver of the Nissan, the first vehicle involved in the accident, was ticketed for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
