The Bond County Unit 2 School Board met Monday night at the High School Library. An update was given concerning the Superintendent candidate search. Board President Jay Young said Thomas Leahy, the consultant from the Illinois Association of School Boards, has requested a special board meeting to be held to allow Leahy to present the six finalists for the Superintendent position.
The Unit 2 board contracted with the IASB last year to help in the search for the new Superintendent. Young said that 30+ people accessed the application online, and IASB has narrowed that number down to 6 candidates. Leahy will present those finalists to the board in closed session at the special meeting. While the time and date hasn’t been finalized the meeting will likely be March 30th or 31st.
In other business, Superintendent Jeff Streiker said he expects all categorical payments from the state to arrive within the fiscal year, which is good news. Streiker said the state currently has about a-90 day backlog on payments.
