Illinois State Police have released some details concerning a two-vehicle crash Sunday on I-70 that claimed the life of one person.
Just after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, a vehicle driven by 68 year old John H. Singleton, of St. Charles, MO, was westbound on I-70 near the 52 mile marker, traveling alongside a vehicle driven by Nancy Gudeman, of Columbia, IL. State Police told WGEL Singleton’s vehicle drifted across the center line and struck Gudeman’s vehicle, causing both to spin 180-degrees. Gudeman’s car came to rest in the median and Singleton’s vehicle flipped and came to rest on its wheels.
Singleton, who according to State Police was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Bond County Coroner Tony Brooks. Bond County EMS responded to the scene, but Gudeman refused treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
