Friday Was GHS Give Back Day

Alan Rohlfing, with Honor Flight St. Louis, and Lorna Stowers

It was the third year for the event, but the first time that teacher Lorna Stowers served as coordinator. She told WGEL it was a very productive day.

During the assembly, certificates of recognition were presented to businesses, groups and individuals who assisted with Give Back Day.
Stowers said the high school students, besides helping their communities, enjoyed the day for multiple reasons.

Earlier this year, students held fundraisers to benefit the veteran’s Honor Flight program.

A check for $650 was presented to Alan Rohlfing, representative of Honor Flight St. Louis.

Three veterans at the assembly were recognized with a standing ovation from students and GHS staff members. They were Jim Nesbit, John Garrison and Guy Knight.
