Previously, WGEL told you about concerns raised at the recent Bond County Board of Health meeting regarding the possible affiliation between Greenville Regional Hospital and the Hospital Sisters Health System, or HSHS. Health board members expressed concern over the fact that HSHS offers some services that are similar to services offered by the Bond County Health Department.
Bond County Public Health Administrator Mark Ayers and Bond County Board of Health President Darryl Bolen met with an HSHS official last week and Ayers told us the meeting was a positive experience and focused on the desire to collaborate rather than compete for the best health of Bond County. An agreement to explore affiliation between Greenville Regional Hospital and HSHS was announced in late March. Officials say the exploration process will take several months.
