Robert Gaffner Remembered For Impact On Greenville And Beyond

Residents of the Greenville area are mourning the loss of one of its outstanding citizens.

Robert Gaffner was a man involved in many things including city government and education. An Air Force veteran, Gaffner worked for DeMoulin Brothers and Southwestern Electric before joining the St. Louis Community College System. He served 36 years on the Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees.

Greenville Mayor Alan Gaffner, who was not related to Bob, but was a good friend of his, spoke highly about Robert Gaffner’s contributions to the city and education.

Mayor Gaffner said many area residents remember Robert Gaffner as a past candidate for Congress. He said Bob was always upbeat, optimistic and positive, with a can-do attitude.

The mayor also stated Bob was always progressive and fundamentally sound in his thinking.
