Unit 2 Board Votes On Reduction In Force & Other Personnel Matters

The Bond County Community Unit 2 Board Of Education unanimously approved a motion this week to honorably dismiss nine educational support employees.

Superintendent Jeff Strieker said the action was taken due to the financial uncertainty regarding funding at the state and federal levels. Affected by the action were Ali Potthast, high school library clerk, teacher’s aides Kristin Karraker, Jennifer Semanism, Beth Schwierjohn and Nicole Detmer; bus aides Shelli Sasse and Kim May, and bus drivers Dennis Nance and Mark Turok.

A new kindergarten teacher was hired at the Greenville Elementary School. She is Elizabeth Cates from Pocahontas. Cates will replace Becky Pate, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

The board accepted the resignations of Ashley Klei as a Greenville Junior High sixth grade math and English teacher and Lauren Brewer as basketball cheerleading coach at the high school.

Leaves of absence were granted to employees Beth Schwierjohn, a special education aide; Mark Eyman, a bus driver; and Karen Hicks, third grade teacher at the Greenville Elementary School.
