Vandalia Railroad Plan Approved

The traffic flow at two railroad crossings in Vandalia is being changed as a result of an agreement between the city, Illinois Commerce Commission and CSX Railroad.

One of the crossings, at Sixth and Main streets, is where four Greenville residents were killed in a car-train accident last year.

Vandalia Mayor Ricky Gottman said the city’s cost in the project will be about $1,000. Click below to hear more:

The total cost for the total project is over $653,000. Mayor Gottman said he is hoping the work can be completed this summer.
