Following eighth grade graduation at Sorento School Wednesday evening, a ceremony was held just outside of the gymnasium doors to dedicate the Carolyn Young Memorial Garden.

Young was a long-time teacher at the school and Principal Bill Carpenter said she devoted her life to Sorento School and the school district, and was a valuable member of the faculty.

Carpenter addressed those gathered at the ceremony:

In attendance were Don Young, Carolyn’s husband, and her daughter, Kim Young.

The garden was made possible through a memorial donation from the Young family. 14 inscribed memorial bricks have been purchased and are on display in the garden to remember former teachers, community members, administrators and students.
