Greenville Zoning Board Recommends Variance

The Greenville Zoning Board of Appeals met Tuesday evening to consider a variance request from Bess Anthony, for the construction of a garage to be attached to the existing house in the 700 block of North Elm Street.

On a 5 to 0 vote, board members passed a motion favoring the variance to allow the maximum lot coverage percentage standard for the garage. Joe Craver, city building inspector and code enforcement officer, said only one variance is necessary as the size of the garage and setbacks fall within the requirements of the city’s unified development ordinance.

The zoning board’s recommendation will be considered by the city council at its June 9 meeting.
