Johnston Retires After 20 Years As Greenville Fire Chief

Bill Johnston has retired as Fire Chief after 20+ years of service.

There has been a change of command within the Greenville Fire Protection District.

After serving as Greenville Fire Chief for over 20 years, Bill Johnston retired on May 1. He has served with the department a total of 35 years. He will continue to serve as a firefighter within the district.

Assistant Chief Dennis Wise was appointed to the position of Chief. Wise has 30 years of service with the Greenville Fire Protection District and has served over 15 years as Assistant Chief.

Captain Jim Sutton will now fill the position of Assistant Chief. Sutton has served 30 years on the department, the last 15 of which were in the role of captain.
