Kingsbury Park District Board Reorganizes, Talks Summer Activities

The Kingsbury Park District board reorganized Monday night with newly elected member Barb Smith sworn in.

Officers were unanimously elected with Tommy Simpson once again serving as president, Anthony Macon back as vice president and Jose Lirios remaining as treasurer. Park District Director Jerry Sauerwein continues as board secretary.

At the request of the City of Greenville, the park board approved an easement at Breehne Park for the city to lay a water line.

The action is contingent on the park district attorney reviewing legal documents regarding the easement.

Sauerwein advised the board the spring soccer season has been completed. The public swimming pool opens May 23, softball and baseball games begin June 1, and the annual fishing derby, at Patriot’s Park Lake, takes place June 6.

Summer recreation program brochures are available at the park district office, the Greenville Public Library, the Greenville Municipal building, the Chamber of Commerce office, and at many Greenville businesses.
