The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department received a report Tuesday of a vehicle possibly submerged in flood water on Airport Road east of Billhartz Road, just south of Damiansville.
Emergency crews searched the area for several hours before they located a 1999 GMC Sierra extended cab truck about 75 yards south of the road in a flooded field. The water was approximately eight to 10 feet deep.
28 year old Gustavo Sotelo-Andrade, of New Memphis, IL, was found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene at 1:15 p.m. by Clinton County Coroner Phillip Moss.
12 agencies from Clinton and St. Clair Counties assisted in the recovery.
