Mt. Vernon Man Dies Sunday As Limb Comes Through Roof

A Mt. Vernon man died Sunday evening in his residence due to a storm.

Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks said 72-year-old James Dotts was sitting on the side of his bed in his mobile home when a very large tree limb fell between two mobile homes. The coroner said the heaviest portion of the tree went through the roof of Dotts’ residence, striking him.

Coroner Marks said the death has been ruled accidental with Dotts suffering blunt force traumas.
