The new Bond County Community Unit 2 superintendent is Wes Olson, current principal at Mt. Vernon High School.
He was hired Wednesday night on a unanimous vote of the Unit 2 school board. Olson was in attendance and spoke to WGEL about his new position.
Board President Edmar Schreiber said Olson was selected by the board from 29 applicants.
Olson accepted a three year contract for a salary of $123,000 per year. He begins work in Unit 2 on July 1, replacing Jeff Strieker, who resigned to become the superintendent in the Litchfield District.
The new Unit 2 superintendent said he, his wife and two children will be moving to the district.
