Planning Commission Recommends Rezoning Of Red Ball Trail Property

For the second time, the Greenville Plan Commission held a public hearing Monday on a request to rezone property at 1000 Red Ball Trail, north of Casey’s General Store along Illinois Rt. 140.

Carol Gum requested that the property be rezoned from residential to commercial neighborhood for a potential buyer to develop the property for an office.

At the first hearing, the plan commission voted to deny the request, however the Greenville City Council decided to send it back to the commission, after City Manager Dave Willey advised there was additional information the commission should consider.

Monday night, the commission voted unanimously to recommend that the city council approve the rezoning request. City Manager Willey said the type of development proposed is consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan.
