Health Department Conducting West Nile Virus Surveillance


The Bond County Health Department received a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health for West Nile Virus Mosquito surveillance.

The West Nile Virus is spread to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. The health department will collect and test female mosquitoes for the West Nile Virus.

The health department will also continue to collect dead birds for sampling. If you notice a dead bird, call the health department at 664-1442, ext. 149.
