Highland Police received two calls, Monday, at 7:32 p.m., reporting two patrons were leaving the Highland Walmart saying there was a bomb in the building.

Police evacuated the store and started an investigation. With the cooperation of Walmart and witnesses, the suspects and their vehicle were quickly identified. Police located them in the parking lot of the Highland Tru Buy store and took them into custody at 8:49 p.m.

The names of the persons of interest are being withheld pending formal charges.

The Highland Fire Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Grantfork Police Department, and Illinois State Police assisted in the investigation.
