In Tuesday night’s Bond County Board meeting, County Treasurer Katie Weiss informed the board that tax bills and payment due dates for 2014 real estate taxes, payable in 2015, will be pushed back this year.
Bond County tax bills are traditionally sent out in early June, with the first installment due in early July. Distribution of the funds to various taxing districts typically happens later in July. The second installment is then due in early September.
This year, Weiss said she anticipates bills being sent out in late July, with the first installment due around August 31 and the second installment due around September 30.
Weiss told the board the delay is the result of Bond County not receiving the final multiplier from the Illinois Department of Revenue until June 5 this year, almost two months later than last year.
Weiss said her goal is to get distribution checks to taxing districts around two weeks after the first installment due date.
