A Greenville man made a unique discovery while doing some yard work recently. Chance Vohlken, who lives a few blocks south of the Greenville College campus, told WGEL about his find:
Vohlken said the headstones are all for children whose ages when they passed range from infant to 10 years old. The dates of death range from 1842-1856. Each stone says the child is a son or daughter of Jas. – assumed to mean James – and S. Olive.
Vohlken said with the help of a local historian, he’s working on finding the proper home for the headstones:
If you can provide any information to help Vohlken get the tombstones back to the cemetery, you can call him at 339-1247.
