Hummingbird Festival & Amateur Radio Field Day Planned For This Weekend

Stoecklin’s Orchard, north of Greenville on Ayers Road, is the site of a Hummingbird Festival Saturday, June 27, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Dozens of hummingbirds should be present and Vernon Kleen, a licensed hummingbird bander associated with the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders, will begin the festival with a short discussion about hummingbirds and why they are banded.

This is a come-and-go family event and there is no admission charge. Bring your lawn chairs.

For more information and directions to the farm, call Kay at 217-537-3801.

Members of the Okaw Valley Amateur Radio Club will participate in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise at Patriot’s Park Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.

Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
