Kingsbury Park District Board Has New Member

The newest KPD Board Members, Scott Crothers and Barb Smith.

The Kingsbury Park District Board accepted the resignation of one of its members and appointed a former member to the board.

At Monday night’s meeting, the resignation of Dennis Warren was accepted and Scott Crothers was approved to fill the vacancy. Warren resigned due to his work schedule.

In 2013, Crothers was appointed to the board and served about 18 months. He ran for election earlier this year, but was unsuccessful.

Monday night, Board Chairman Tommy Simpson reported the vacancy had been discussed at a committee meeting. Simpson said board members thought Crothers was more than qualified to be back on the board.

The motion to appoint Crothers was passed on a 3 to 0 vote with Jose Lirios absent. Crothers will serve until the next election in 2017.

The park board voted to donate $2,500 to the Bond County Fourth Fest Association for the Fourth of July event at Patriot’s Park. Last year’s contribution was $3,500.

Jerry Sauerwein, district director, said park district staff members will prepare the grounds for the event and will also be in attendance to assist with parking and other duties.
