UPDATED: Motorcycle And Postal Service Truck Accident Leaves One Dead In Highland


The Madison County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a collision with a United States Postal Service vehicle in Highland Tuesday as 69 year old Gaylon D. Parker of Wood River.

According to a press release from the Highland Police Department, Highland Police and Highland EMS responded to the accident Tuesday at 2:25 p.m.

The motorcycle driven by Parker collided with a USPS vehicle at the intersection of St. Rose Road and Iberg Road. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 69 year old Donna C. Parker was injured in the crash is being cared for at a St. Louis hospital. The postal truck driver, Sandy L. Vosholler, 48, of Highland was also taken to a local hospital.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation. The accident remains under investigation.
